perma USA - Sales & Support - FAQ
What if a bearing goes down with a perma on it and there is no grease in the bearing cavity?
Answer
There are many reasons why a bearing can fail, besides lack of grease. (Misaligned shafts, age, normal wear, too heavy a load). But when a bearing starts to go down, it will usually heat up to high temperatures. During this process the grease is sometimes burned, resulting in no grease in the cavity.
