Frequently Asked Questions About perma STAR VARIO

perma STAR VARIO is designed for the automatic lubrication of a single lubrication point. It can be used for roller and sliding bearings, sliding guides, open gears, gear racks, spindles, shaft seals and chains. Its precise lubricant delivery also makes it suitable for electric motors that require defined lubricant quantities.

The correct configuration depends on the amount of lubricant the application requires and how frequently it should be delivered. perma STAR VARIO is available with 60, 120, 250 and 500 cc lubricant canisters, with discharge periods selected in weeks or months. The 60 cc canister offers settings of up to 24 months, while the 500 cc canister has a maximum discharge period of six months. perma recommends using the perma SELECT app or consulting a lubrication specialist to determine the appropriate lubricant, canister size and discharge setting for the application.

Yes. Its pressure build-up of up to 109 psi, or 7.5 bar, allows the system to be remotely mounted using a tube or hose up to 16 feet, or 5 meters, depending on the application. Remote mounting can be helpful when the lubrication point is difficult to access, exposed to vibration or located in a high-temperature or hazardous area. The lubrication line and connecting parts should be prefilled with the same lubricant used in the system.

perma STAR VARIO can dispense oil or grease up to NLGI 2. The lubricant must be appropriate for the equipment, operating conditions and temperature range. When oil is used, an oil retaining valve is required to help prevent leakage. Grease lines, hoses and accessories should be filled with the same lubricant contained in the lubrication system.

Yes. The selected lubricant canister size and discharge period are shown on the LCD display, and the settings can be changed using the push button. Any changes should still be based on the equipment manufacturer’s lubrication requirements and the conditions at the lubrication point.

The all-around LED provides a quick indication of the system’s operating status. A flashing green LED indicates normal operation. A red LED signals that attention is required, such as an empty lubricant canister or a system error. The LCD display provides additional information that can help identify the specific condition.
