The Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP) Annual Conference continues to be one of the industry's premier opportunities for maintenance and reliability professionals to exchange ideas, explore emerging technologies, and discover new ways to improve asset performance. SMRP 2026 was no exception.
Throughout the event, the perma team had the opportunity to engage with reliability leaders, maintenance managers, engineers and technicians from a wide range of industries. From manufacturing and mining to energy and food processing, attendees shared common goals: maximizing equipment uptime, improving maintenance efficiency and driving long-term reliability improvements.
One recurring theme throughout the event was the growing need for maintenance teams to do more with fewer resources. Many professionals discussed the challenges of balancing preventive maintenance activities with day-to-day operational demands while maintaining asset reliability. These conversations highlighted the importance of lubrication as a foundational element of any successful reliability strategy.
Attendees visiting the perma booth explored solutions designed to simplify lubrication management and support proactive maintenance programs. Discussions ranged from contamination prevention and optimal lubricant delivery to strategies for reducing manual maintenance requirements and improving consistency across facilities.

Another area of significant interest was digitalization within reliability programs. The perma CONNECT platform sparked valuable conversations about how maintenance teams can leverage real-time data and visibility to make more informed decisions. As facilities continue adopting connected technologies, access to actionable lubrication data is becoming increasingly important for supporting reliability initiatives and reducing unexpected downtime.
Visitors also showed strong interest in the perma STAR VARIO LONG RANGE and perma STAR VARIO BLUETOOTH systems, which combine automatic lubrication with enhanced monitoring and control capabilities. Many attendees shared that manual greasing is still a common practice at their facilities and were interested to learn how automated lubrication solutions can improve consistency, reduce maintenance effort and help prevent lubrication-related failures.
Discussions around connected lubrication technology and the measurable return on investment from automating lubrication processes reinforced the growing demand for smarter maintenance solutions.
"The presentation was a great opportunity to share best-practice examples and real-world case studies while also discussing our vision for where we see the future of lubrication and maintenance heading," said Travis Stubblefield.
"The engagement and conversations throughout the session reinforced the industry's growing interest in smarter, more connected maintenance strategies."
Another highlight of SMRP 2026 was the presentation, "The Future of Lubrication is Connected," delivered by Travis Stubblefield, Key Account Manager at perma USA. The session explored how connected lubrication technologies are helping maintenance teams improve visibility, streamline maintenance activities and support long-term reliability goals.
The presentation combined practical best practices, real-world application examples and industry insights to demonstrate how lubrication programs are evolving alongside broader digitalization initiatives.

In addition to discussing equipment lubrication best practices, the event provided an opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals facing similar challenges. The exchange of real-world experiences, lessons learned and success stories reinforced the value of collaboration within the reliability community.
SMRP 2026 also brought plenty of energy and engagement to the show floor. Visitors participated in the perma 60-Second Challenge, putting their lubrication knowledge and skills to the test in a fast-paced, hands-on activity that attracted participants throughout the event.
The conversations, educational sessions and networking opportunities throughout SMRP 2026 reinforced the importance of collaboration within the maintenance and reliability community. From emerging technologies and connected maintenance strategies to lubrication best practices and asset reliability, the event provided valuable insight into the trends shaping the future of the industry.
"SMRP 2026 was another successful event for perma USA and a great opportunity to connect with reliability and maintenance professionals from across the industry," said Nadine Hoffmann, Head of Marketing Americas at perma USA.
"From the conversations at our booth to the educational sessions throughout the week, the event provided valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of maintenance and reliability. As a proud SMRP partner, sponsor and member, we appreciate the opportunity to support the reliability community and look forward to returning to Indianapolis in 2027."
