perma CLASSIC

Frequently Asked Questions About perma CLASSIC

Find answers to common questions about selecting, activating and using perma CLASSIC for automatic single-point lubrication in industrial, mining and mechanical applications.

perma CLASSIC is designed for automatic single-point lubrication of roller and sliding bearings, sliding guides, open gears, gear racks, spindles, shaft seals and chains. Typical applications include equipment in mining, steel, automotive and mechanical engineering environments.

perma CLASSIC uses an electrochemical gas generator. The activator screw is installed to start the system, gas pressure builds up to move the piston forward and the lubricator continuously supplies small amounts of lubricant to the lubrication point.

Both systems use an electrochemical drive, a 120 cc lubricant volume and 1, 3, 6 or 12-month activator settings. A key difference is the housing: perma CLASSIC uses a metal housing, while perma FUTURA uses transparent corrosion-resistant plastic and is positioned for hygienic or corrosion-prone environments.

perma CLASSIC has a 120 cc lubricant volume. The discharge period is selected with the activator screw and is available in 1, 3, 6 or 12-month options.

perma CLASSIC is designed for ambient temperatures from 32°F to 104°F (0°C to 40°C). The system should be used within this specified range when selecting the activator and planning the lubrication interval.

perma CLASSIC carries Ex certification and mining approval. perma identifies the system for safe and reliable lubrication in approved explosive areas and for underground use, subject to the applicable product approvals and site requirements.

Yes. perma CLASSIC supports remote mounting with a maximum tube length of 3.2 feet, or 1 meter. Remote mounting should use suitable tubes, fittings and accessories, with the line prefilled using the same lubricant as the lubrication system. See perma's installation guidance for preparation steps.

perma CLASSIC can dispense grease up to NLGI 2 or oil. Select the lubricant based on the equipment manufacturer's recommendations, the operating environment and the lubrication-point requirements. See the perma lubricants section for additional information.
