perma FUTURA
Can I use perma CLASSIC activating screws with a perma FUTURA?
Yes!
perma FLEX
Is perma FLEX free of silicone?
Yes. perma FLEX is free of silicone. This is an important information if the system is intended to be used for the car industry.
Which certifications does perma FLEX have?
See image for information on perma FLEX certifications.
Which impact does ambient temperature have on discharge period of perma FLEX?
Low and high temperatures can influence the selected discharge period. Deviations can either be calculated manually by using temperature factors, or automatically by using the free perma SELECT software.
If temperature rises above 68 °F (40 °C) discharge period can not exceed 6 months to ensure that system discharges until completely empty.
How do I have to dispose of perma FLEX?
Remove rotary switch with a screw driver. Then take out and recycle the battery. Dispose empty housing with other oil containing waste.
Which information should be noted on the perma FLEX label?
The user should note the activation date and the exchange date on the label.
If the discharge period is changed after the initially programmed discharge period has started, the exchange date on the label is no longer valid.
Do tight lubrication channels and long tube connections influence the lubrication period?
perma FLEX is designed to match the programmed discharge period when there is no counter pressure at the lube-point. The higher the counter pressure (caused by tight lube channels or long tube connections), the longer the discharge period. To ensure proper operation, we recommend to measure the counter pressure at the lube-point.
Is it possible to compensate counter pressure at the lubrication point by selecting a shorter discharge period?
Basically it is possible to counteract a higher counter pressure by selecting a shorter discharge period (a shorter discharge period will increase gas production).
What happens if perma FLEX is permanently exposed to extreme ambient temperatures (like -4 °F / -20 °C or 140 °F / 60 °C) with a long discharge period?
Low temperatures = slower discharge
Higher temperatures = faster dischargeImportant: If the ambient temperature permanently exceeds 140 °F / 60 °C, the selected discharge period must not be longer than 6 months.
What happens if perma FLEX is operated beyond the stated temperature limits (below -4 °F / -20° C or above 140 °F / 60 °C)?
At temperatures below -4 °F / -20 °C, the gas production will stop. The discharge will continue as soon as the temperature reaches -4 °F / -20 °C or higher. Temperatures above 140 °F / 60° C may permanently damage the lubrication system and its components.
Why doesn‘t perma FLEX immediately start discharging after activation?
perma FLEX starts discharging with a delay because it takes a while to generate the required discharge pressure. The delay depends on several factors such as ambient temperature, selected discharge period and type of lubricant.
Example:
- Ambient temp. 68 °F / setting 6 months / grease SF01: Delay approx. 1 week
- Ambient temp. -4 °F / setting 6 months / grease SF01: Delay approx. 2 weeksThe delay can be shortened by setting the discharge period on 1 month for one day (faster pressure build-up). Sufficient pre-lubrication will also compensate the discharge delay.
perma NOVA
Is it possible to compensate counter pressure at the lubrication point by selecting a shorter discharge period?
Basically it is possible to counteract a higher counter pressure as a shorter discharge period will increase gas production.
Does counter pressure at the lubrication point influence the selected and programmed discharge period?
perma NOVA is a gas driven lubrication system. The set discharge period is based on lubrication points without counter pressure. The higher the counter pressure, the longer the discharge period. It is important to determine the counter pressure at the lubrication point for a correct function of the lubrication system.
Blanc display when pressing the SET button or after attaching control unit to LC unit. What happened?
No contact between control- and LC unit. If you are using perma NOVA for the first time, please check if control- and LC unit are screwed together correctly. You may want to unscrew the two parts and try screwing them together again (shift position by 180°). If the display still does not react, then the LC supply battery is most likely defective. Please use a new LC unit (max. storage life is 2 years). If the new LC does not work either, the control unit is defective.
Is it possible to change the originally programmed discharge period when the system is already operating?
Yes, the discharge period can be changed.
NOTE: A changed discharge period will affect the original exchange date. In this case you must visually keep on checking the piston position to see when the system is empty.
Can I clean the control unit with compressed air?
No, compressed air will damage the electronics of the control unit. Once the perma NOVA is assembled, no dirt or dust can get inside. The protection cover can be used to protect the outside of the control unit.
What is the correct mounting position for perma NOVA?
Inside, where perma NOVA is protected, the mounting position does not matter.
Outside, it should be mounted upright with a protection cover (control unit on top). If upright mounting is not possible, then perma NOVA can also be mounted horizontally or tilted.
Do not mount upside down (control unit on bottom) as over a longer period of time, moisture might get into the lubricator via the connection thread between control and LC unit.Is perma NOVA suitable for under water applications?
perma NOVA received IP 65 protection. It is dust tight and protected against water jets from all sides. It is not suitable for continuous operation under water.
Does a blinking LED guarantee correct function of perma NOVA?
The display only signalizes correct function of the electronics. It cannot detect gas building problems or leakages. However, every NOVA control unit is tested before it leaves perma-tec and should therefore function correctly.
Is the control unit pressurized when I remove the LC unit?
No. The gas generating process inside the LC unit is hermetically sealed. The produced pressure only affects the lubricant discharge, not the control unit.
What is a "Quick Start"?
During the "Quick Start" phase, the system temporarily produces more gas. This enables the lubricator to discharge the first lubricant already within the first day (regardless of the selected discharge period and the ambient temperature).
When does a "Quick Start" occur?
The lubrication system will do a Quick Start:
- after each LC unit exchange
- whenever perma NOVA is turned on (e.g. a discharge interruption due to equipment downtime)
- when the discharge period is shortenedHow can I be sure that control unit and LC unit are assembled correctly?
Screw on tight and ensure that one of the raised edges on the control unit lines up with the marking on the LC unit.
What happens if the control unit is removed from an empty LC unit and placed on another, half filled LC unit?
If the discharge period is not changed, the previous setting will remain valid. There will be another "Quick Start". The half filled LC unit will be empty within half of the selected discharge period.
What happens if perma NOVA is operated beyond the stated temperature limits (below -4 °F or above 140 °F)?
At temperatures below -4 °F, the gas production will stop. The discharge will continue as soon as the temperature reaches -4 °F or higher. Temperatures above 140 °F may permanently damage the lubrication system and its components.
How often can I reuse the control unit
A general answer to this question is not possible. It depends on how the system is used. Some applications put more strain on the system than others.
Before you reuse the control unit, always check:
- Is the desired discharge period setting possible?
- Does the display signal correct operation? Will the originally programmed discharge period remain the same when the system is turned ON again after the LC unit was changed?
Yes, the discharge period will not change. The system will also do a "Quick Start".
Which information should be noted on the perma NOVA label?
The user should note the activation date and the exchange date on the label.
If the discharge period is changed after the initially programmed discharge period has started, the exchange date on the label is no longer valid. Therefore we also recommend the use of our MLP software (free download from our web page). Changes can be noted there which guarantees optimal control over all lubrication points.
